Beginning
in a small way about five decades ago, ‘Rajhans’
has taken many strides forward. It all started with history-
based tales of heroism from the pen of Babasaheb Purendare,
whose ‘Raja Shiva-Chhatrapati’ has become a legend
in its own way by reaching almost every literate household in
Maharashtra.
With change of hands in 1983 ‘Rajhans’ has grown
from strength to strength and has become a synonym for the best
quality books. Over the years, it has acquired the reputation
of being ‘the first’ in many respects. It has covered
such varied fields as biography, history, science, personality
study, Fiction, translation of various best sellers.
We are fortunately privileged to have published four translations
of books by or on our revered President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
His autobiography- ‘Wings of fire’ and his vision
of the developed India – ‘India 2020’, along
with the book titled ‘Who is Kalam?’ by R.Ramanath-
and his inspirational advice to the youngsters ‘Guiding
souls’…all these have been published in Marathi
by our publishing house.
A careful selection of themes, able editorial guidance, scouting
for unexplored talent, insistence on a reader- friendly style,
assiduous attention to the best production values… these
have been the key factors that have sustained ‘Rajhans’
on its growth path. More than sixty of its publications have
won the coveted Maharashtra state Awards for the best writing
in several fields. More than eighty awards from other institutions
have honored some of its books. We have received no less than
ten awards for excellence in book- production from the federation
of Indian Publishers.
We are proud that ‘Rajhans’ has tried its level
best to serve Marathi readers with quality literature all these
years and their reciprocal response has crossed all conventional
bounds. It is the readers’ affection that reciprocal that
will continue to nourish ‘Rajhans’ in the future
too.
