  About YMCA Poona

YMCA Poona was founded in 1884 with the aim of enriching the lives of youngsters. We are One of the Oldest YMCAs in India. It was started in a small way at 6, Arjun Marg (Burnett Road), Opp. Race Course Office. By the grace of God and benevolence of His Reflections on this earth, we constructed the present building at Rasta Peth in 1992. Now, it has become a landmark in the city of Pune, which caters to the young people, members and communities at large.

YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) is Membership Organization and is Cosmopolitan in its Membership Policies. It is open to all human persons irrespective of gender, race, religion, caste, community, class, creed, etc. Therefore, any person who is in agreement with the objectives of the association can become a member of YMCA. The YMCA runs various Programs and Activities, Hostels, Educational Institutes, conducts Games and Sports, Cultural and Community Development Activities, Religious and Interfaith Programs, through its units and projects situated in cities, towns, villages and remote areas of the country.

Extending its services to the education of the differently-abled children, it runs YMCA Garland Craig Memorial School for the Deaf. This school is situated at 6, Arjun Marg, Opp, race course office, Pune cantonment Pune. This has been being run for last 25 years in English, Hindi and Marathi medium for the hearing impaired children. This school is recognized by the Govt. of Maharashtra.

YMCA also runs social service projects such as YMCA Tribal Development Project, Junnar which is for the integrated development of Thakkar Tribals in Junnar Taluka, Pune District. It runs two Balwadis, provided Drinking Water and other activities for the youth.

YMCA GARLAND CRAIG MEMORIAL SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

Situated at 6 Arjun Marg, Pune, School for the Hearing Impaired children in English, Hindi & Marathi medium is being run for last 25 years. The school is recognized by the Govt. of Maharashtra.

YMCA TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, JUNNAR

Integrated development of Thakkar tribals in Junnar Taluka, Pune Dist. Running two Balwadis, provided drinking water. Activities / programmes for youth
