• 250 BC to 640 AD – “Baghdad batteries” existed, but their proper function is not known.

• 1780 – Luigi Galvani discovered “animal electricity”, by performing experiment on the frog’s leg

• 1791- Alessandro Volta made some changes in Luigi Galvani’s experiment. He was successful in measuring electromotive force.

• 1799 - Italian scientist Alessandro Volta invented world’s first battery

• 1836 – Daniell cell was made
