and its surroundings. It also has a zoo, a bird house
and an aquarium and also a children’s play ground.

picnic spot for citizens of Rajkot who want to get away
from the day to day routine. |

is a university of distinction to-day. Vitthal Udyognagar,
a nearby township is a centre of many small and medium
industries. Elicon Engineering and Vallabh Glass Industries
are a few of the known houses at Vitthal Udyognagar. The
birth place of Sardar Patel, Karamsad is adjacent to it.

Kendra |
| Established
in 1954, initially with Vividhbharti, the traditional
music and entertainment channel, this Kendra was commissioned
officially for commercial broadcasting in Nov-1970. Programs
are relayed from this station with the support of a 300KW
transmitter to parts of Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Pakistan,
Chandigarh and Karnataka. It is the Recipient of
Various Awards of which 4 have been consecutive in the
last Four years. |

known as Connaught Hall it was one the first auditorium
in Rajkot City. Presently managed by Rajkot Municipal
Corporation and used for Dramas and Musical Concerts,

on 31st August 1994 the centre operates a High Power Transmitter

in the heart of City. It is at Kadia Nav Line and Dharmendra

| The
Lang library which has a collection of over 80,000 Books,
some of which happen to be over 900 Yrs old, has been
rated as the Best Library in Gujarat and also been Awarded
for the same in July of 1985. It was initially started
as Gaun Grahak Mandal, later to be known as Lang Library
after Col. Lang in 1856. |

| Watson Museum |
| Established
in 1888 by the Princess of the erstwhile state of Kathiawar
in the fond memory of Corneal Watson. The Watson Museum
houses rare monuments and weapons of ancient times. Articles
of interest being idol of Varah Avatar (one of the Avatars
of Lord Vishnu) Sculptures of Bhumati Standing Brahma
in Marble from Chandranagri Palanpur Matruka’s of
Zinzawada Indian Miniatures Paintings Embroidery and Natural

| Race
Course Grounds are situated at the Centre of the City
with the famous Ring Road running In a circle with Ice
Cream Parlours, Pizza Shops, Fast Food Joints. Inside
the Race Course Grounds are housed the Jawaharlal Nehru
Udyan or as more familiarly known as the Bal Bhavan. There
is a Roller Skatting Ring, Cricket Training Grounds, Aquarium
Play Ground for tiny tots and Science Museum Additionally,
the Planatorium is also situated next to it. The grounds
also house a large olympic size Swimming pool that is
managed by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, also an indoor
stadium is under construction the fun world amusement
park has a variety of Rides and games for the both adults
and children. Adjacent to this is also the Sardar Smruti
Bhavan Library. |
