ABOUT DR. R. V. KUMAR

Dr. R. V. Kumar is a famous Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Professor, HOD at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, Telangana. Heart Transplant Surgery which is affordable only to a few on account of its astronomical costs and is mostly performed in the Corporate Hospitals. Dr. Kumar through his tireless efforts and coordination with agencies like Govt., Arogyadaan, and other agencies makes it possible to the poor and needy.

Apart from performing several hundreds of complicated surgeries during his course of working, Dr. Kumar is also instrumental in imparting most modern technology in CT Surgery to the next generation Doctors through his teaching in NIMS, participation in several seminars, workshops and also through his motivational speeches in various forums. The selfless service of Dr. Kumar deserves many appreciations in recognition of his good work and thus he was felicitated by many prestigious National Level awards both from the Govt., and Medical Fraternity.

About 400-500 major operations are performed per year. Various operations for the following categories are performed by us:

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery:
First ever successful CABG was performed in NIMS. The Conventional CABG, Off-Pump CABG or Beating Heart CABG, Total Arterial Revascularization are all performed as per clinical requirement of the patient.

Valvular Heart Surgery:
Valve repairs like Mitral Valve Repairs, Tricuspid Valve Repairs, Valve Replacement Surgeries like Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR), Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR), Double Valve Replacement (DVR), Paediatric Valve repairs and Replacements are also offered.

Children’s Heart Surgeries:
Corrective Surgery is offered for the following diseases:
Holes in the Heart: Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD), Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), Endocardial Cushion Defects (ECD)
Blue Babies: Tetrology of Fallot (TOF), Transposition of Great Arteries (TGA), Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC), Tricuspid Atresia (TA), Truncus Arteriosus (TA)

Heart Transplantation:
So far 5 Heart transplantation surgeries are performed. The cost of the Heart transplant surgery brought down to 10,000/- rupees. It is also performed free for Arogyasri and Employees health scheme patients and also life-long medications are supplied by Government.

Aortic Surgery:
Corrective Surgery is offered for the following Aortic diseases: Ascending Aortic Aneurysms, Arch Aneurysms, Dissecting Aneurysms, Thoraco abdominal Aneurysms, Coarctation of Aorta

Thoracic Surgery:
Surgery for Tuberculosis, Brochiectasis, Emoyema, Destroyed Lung Bronchogenic Carcinoma, Bronchial Carcinoids, Mediastinal Tumours: Thymoma, Teratoma, Ewings Sarcoma
